I am the Director of Education at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, Texas. In this role, I work with a talented team of fifteen museum educators to ensure the development, execution, and evaluation of the Amon Carter’s mission-focused educational programs and resources for various audiences. With experience as a museum registrar, in curatorial work, and designing professional development programs for educators, I have a passionate love for works of art and also accessibility—making sure that visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities are able to enter, access, and engage with museum collections.

Greetings Art Educators!

Linda Kieling, NAEA Middle Level Director-Elect, encouraged me to pass this information to anyone that might be interested:

Opportunity 1: NAEA is looking for a Middle Level Director for the Pacific Region. Responsibilities include gathering and communicating between similar board members in other states, helping with program and awards luncheon at the national convention and working on projects with national Director as needed. This person would be elect until March 2011 and then director for 2 years.

Opportunity 2: NAEA is now taking nominations from members who are interested in leadership. The upcoming election is for Division Directors. When elected you become Director-Elect for 2 years and the serve 2 years on the board as Division Director. Interested individuals who would like to represent the Middle Level Division should submit materials postmarked by July 1. These are reviewed by the Nominating Committee and two are selected to run during the election voted on by members.  Information is on the NAEA website:  http://www.arteducators.org/about-us/NAEA_Nomination_Materials.PDF

Opportunity 3: Although it seems like the convention is a long time away, I would like to encourage each of you to submit a proposal for presentation. These are due June 30. Here is a link to the guidelines and rubric:  http://www.arteducators.org/news/national-convention/Proposal_Form_Instructions.pdf

Remember, each proposal is reviewed by the committee for the category that it is submitted in.

Now is the time to take action. Submit a proposal soon!
